Featured Artist Friday!

This Friday I am launching the first "FAF" or Featured Artist Friday, where a different nail artist's design will be shown each week! :)  This week being the first week, I just picked one design that I particularly loved and wanted to show my readers. The idea is that in the future, hopefully others will send me submissions of nail art they love and want to see featured on the blog.  The art can be someone else's or their own! Remember, this does NOT have to be anyone in particular. It could be you, your neighbor, your child, a facebook friend, a blogger, anyone! So click HERE or on the sidebar on the right to send me your submissions and then check on Fridays to see if your submission is featured! :)

Today's featured artist is Danielle!  I saw this nail design on our Nail Fun page on facebook and loved it!! I still love it and wanted you to see it also! I hope you all enjoy it! :)

According to Danielle, this is done with stamp Mash 38. She painted her nails in the new Sinful Colors pearly white, then stamped in a mint green, purple, and shimmery pink!
 Stamped in one color, and repeated with two others so they kinda layered but all shows up!

Hope you all enjoyed the first FAF!!!

@Melissa
Isn't it great? I loved it as soon as I saw it, it's just so cool! Looks like she worked so hard stringing it all on, but it was stamp-mania! hehe :)

Just curious... did you take this picture? I hope so, because if you didn't, your watermark should not be on it. That's theft.

@Adriane
No, Adriane, I didn't, my friend Danielle did and I put it on there so nobody else would take her photo from my blog since she did not have a watermark on it of her own which is why it has the "featured artist: Danielle" on there also. I never claimed to have taken the photo.

Yes, but you put the name of YOUR BLOG on it, which implies that A) you took it and B) that it is property of your blog. Neither is true. Even if you have permission to use the image, you still can't put your name or the name of your website on something you don't own. It's just good for you to know for future reference. You don't always know where the pictures people send you come from, and putting the name of your blog on someone else's picture could get you in some trouble. Just thought you should know.

I appreciate that you are trying to help, the first message you wrote just sounded mean though, lol!! I honestly wasn't trying to do anything wrong, I was just trying to make sure nobody stole her photo from my blog and used it elsewhere since she didn't watermark it! Eek! Since you seem to know a lot about this, do you have a suggestion on what I should so on the FAF photos? I am guessing people that send me pictures aren't going to send me watermarked pictures. I don't want to post them out in the open for just anyone to steal though...

@Toni Anne Berman
That can be difficult to answer because pictures are so easily passed around on the internet. If the person who took the photo is the one that sent it you you (like in the case with Danielle's picture) that's no problem. They essentially give you permission to use it when they give it to you. You can just do something like you did with the "Featured artist: Danielle" watermark... just don't put your name or website on it too :)

If someone gives you a picture that they DIDN'T take, that's more difficult. Technically, if they didn't take it, they can't give you permission to use it. I wouldn't watermark it at all. As a photographer myself, I would never post a picture on my website unless A) I took it or B) I had permission from the person who did take it. Copyright laws are complex, and there is always the issue of fair use. A blog like this http://www.photoattorney.com/ might help answer some of your questions.

@Adriane
Gotcha!! Whew! Thanks, Adriane! Lots to read, haha! In the meantime, I fixed the watermark on Danielle's photo. Hope that will work! Again, I appreciate your input. Have a great weekend!
