Featured Artist Friday! :)

Yay for having Friday off this week! I love me a 3-day weekend... I would love it more if I wasn't still nursing a nasty virus! :P Yuck!  There is lots on the to-do list today, including a dr appointment, tiling the bathroom (finally), getting the Christmas tree, putting out the Christmas decorations, rearranging the furniture in my daughters room so that her guinea pig isn't by the window because it's too cold there and then hopefully relaxing a bit!  I *do* love that I get to put the featured artist up early today though! Woohoo!

Again, I have been picking randomly from the list of people nominated.  This week's featured artist is someone who has nominated others for Featured Artist Friday, and now it is her turn in the spotlight!

NORMA JANEWAY!!!
\
Norma is just an amazing woman! She always has something nice to say and her nails are always beautiful.  Though, I have noticed in reading she is often critical of her mani's when she definitely should not be! ;) She totally has my style when she does her nails so when I looked through all of her mani's to find one to post I was loving them all! haha  Norma was nominated by Kathy Blixt and the first mani I will show you is the one Kathy nominated, and I chose the second one to show you! :)

Norma used Color Club Berry Red for this and some sort of snowflake on the accent nail. I love this red on Norma!  The accent nail looks great also! So pretty and perfect for this time of year!

The mani I picked is totes my kind of mani for sho!
Norma used Sinful Colors Moss Have and stamped with WnW Black. I still really need to get this green! Love it!!!

Norma's Friday in the spotlight is today, is it your turn next??  It could be YOU! Get your submissions in for Featured Artist Friday and then get your buns over here every Friday to see who the next artist is!

It could totes be you... Go do it HERE, pretty please? (with sugar on top?)

Hope you all have an amazing weekend and a superb December (can you believe tomorrow is December 1st?)!

Mombo Monday!!

Boo Monday, but YAY for Mombo Monday! haha I truly hate Mondays, but at least Mombo Monday makes it a little happier. ;)  I miss my Mombo a lot right now since I didn't see her (or any of my family) on Thanksgiving this year. This was the first time in my entire life I haven't been with my family for Thanksgiving, but I thought it would be nice to spend it with my husband's family this year. It was very nice, but it didn't change the fact that I missed my family terribly! So yeah, anyway, Mombo is missed! hahaha  I have some super pretty Mombo-manis to show you today!

Here's the first one:
This is Layla Coffee Love (which was also used by Barb in my Featured Artist Friday post HERE) and I really want/need this polish, and stamped with black from an image on the DRK-A plate.  I LOVE this mani, it's immaculate! Love, love, love!

Next up, more stamping perfection:
Thanksgiving mani!  Mombo used OPI Suzi Takes the Wheel and Zoya Toni for this one! I just love when she uses me! Hahaha Yeah, you should all know by now that I am such a big dork! ;)  I do love when she uses that polish though because I gave it to her. :)  I have tried to frame my nails like this like 20 times and I can not seem to do it... ugh!

It probs wouldn't be Mombo Monday without a Mombo Marble, right? LOL!
For this one, Mombo used: *10* Professional black base, Sally Hansen Lustres: Scarab, Plume, Lava, Copperhead and Firefly

She's such a bitchface, right? I mean, why does she get to have perfect water marbles like this all the time while the rest of us struggle? :P *Just kidding, Mombo. You know I love you and you are not really a bitchface (no really, you are, but you aren't... just kidding, just kidding...) but you suck! Your water marbles rock so hard you are causing avalanches in the desert! Jeeeez! I'm just totes jelly, that's all!  haha Love you!*

Anywho... that's all for Mombo Monday this week!! I can't believe there is now less than one month until Christmas!  Yikes! Hope you all are further ahead than I am! haha
Have a great week! :)

Featured Artist Friday!

This is totes late, and I am SO sorry!  I got home from work and made the mistake of laying in bed for a minute and fell asleep until just now! Eek! I have a nasty cold and feel horrible, I could have slept the rest of the night... but I needed potty break and remembered it was Friday and had to do FAF! lol  I could not skip one of my favorite blog days of the week!

Since I actually have a few people in the mix for Featured Artist Friday, I have been picking names from a pile at random to be fair and this week the name I drew from the mix is...

BARB STENDEL!!!

Oh Barb!  The hilarious, make me want to pee my pants with laughter, cheer me up, always ripping on Mombo, never a "real" mean thing to say Barb... Just an all around great woman I tell you!  The kind of person that once you meet her online you wish you could hang out with her in real life, like now! hehe  She is in my nail group and I just love everything about her! :)

Barb was nominated by Donna F. and this first mani is the one Donna nominated her for:
Barb used Layla Coffee Love stamped with OPI Midnight In Moscow.
I love the gorgeous holo with the stamping over it! I think I might want that coffee love! lol

I also have a mani of Barb's that I adore!
This was Barb's mani for a challenge "Inspired by a movie" and the movie was "Under the Tuscan Sun" and I just love the look of this!  Looks like a sunset! I can't do gradients for crap, so I am always looking and admiring them! hehe  (Not sure on her colors here, she didn't say either)

Barb's Friday in the spotlight is today, is it your turn next??  It could be YOU! Get your submissions in for Featured Artist Friday and then get your buns over here every Friday to see who the next artist is!

It could totes be you... Go do it HERE, pretty please? (with sugar on top?)

Hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving and if you are in another part of the world, a great week!  Cheers to the freakin' weekend, too! ;)

Mombo Monday! :)

Happy Monday! Well, as happy as it can be when my vacation is now officially over! lol Oh well... it couldn't last forever, right? I did get a new blog design accomplished, though! What do you think?

Mombo was a MANIac this past weekend! She was trying out all sorts of different combos for Custom Nail Solutions*. I guess they asked for photos for an online Bridal Guide Magazine. She has been featured in many of their ads so of course she wanted to be in more stuff! haha  Here's a few of the kick buttski mani's from her mani-marathon!

I LOVE this candy cane/snowflakey one!
Mombo used Sinful Colors White and Kleancolor Metallic Red for this one and then Stamped the stripes and snowflakes on!

Crackle-licious!
For this mani, Mombo used Fingerpaints Rise and Shine and Wet N Wild red crackle

I just love matte with a little gloss!
This beauty is done with Zoya Veruschka and tips are CG Sugar Plums!

There's your dose of Mombo for Monday this week. Hope you enjoyed her nails. :) Gosh I love that Mombo of mine!  It's so fun to be able to feature her up here on my little blog and give her some extra love!

Swatched! Maya Cosmetics: Nefarious Aquarius

Oh how I love nail mail! I also love Maya Cosmetics polish, and I ordered some of the new releases on Thursday, literally as soon as they were released and I could get to the site and get them I did!  I ordered all three of the "What Kind of Party?" Collection and also one of the holos "Nefarious Aquarius".

I want to swatch them all for you, but I am going to do them one at a time this time so I can give you the best shots and review!  *Remember to click the pictures to see them full sized!

Today I am going to show you

Nefarious Aquarius

This polish is a blue-green holo with an underlying blue/turquoise/purple glow.

Here's a close-up shot so you can see the amazing colors in this polish! Spectacular! (Click the pic to see it larger)

I had been waiting for this to be released along with the others, but especially this one because this color is totes up my alley! Green, blue and holo? Yes, please? I could barely wait to put it on my fingers! I knew there was a reason I didn't have polish on when I got the mail today. hehe  The polish was a little thicker than I thought it would be, but it was just the right consistency for this type of polish. Two coats for opacity and it dried very quickly as all the other Maya polishes I have used have. The holo was great but definitely diminished when I put a topcoat of seche vite on, though it's still there as you can see in the pictures (I hope!). Clean up around my cuticles was easy peasy because there was barely any to clean! The consistency of the polish made it very easy to apply exactly how I wanted it and I had  no running into spots I didn't want it. ;) Perfect polish!

Here's some pictures!

I tried to get some blur for the holo, but it was hard with my big clunky DSLR. Once I get it in place with one hand it's difficult to move and click! haha

I took this one with my phone while I was waiting for my camera battery to charge, thought I would throw it in for the heck of it. I think my phone take pretty good pics!

So there you have it, another amazing polish from Maya Cosmetics!  I have already had two "non-polish community" friends ask where they can get this polish after seeing my posts on facebook. Why? Because these, my friends, are gorgemous! ;) hehe

Featured Artist Friday!

Thank goodness I had some to choose from this week!! :)  I had to pick from a hat, even! hehe That makes me very happy, ladies! What doesn't make me happy is that it is the last day of my vacation and it's just like a regular weekend after 5 today. Booooo! I'm pouting. :(  I just have to suck it up! LOL

I should stop pouting though because there is fun stuff happening, it's Featured Artist Friday! This weeks nominee is....

KATHY BLIXT!!!!!!!!!!!

Alright, this woman is hilarious I tell you! She is always making me smile or laugh that is for sure. :) Her nails are always great and she has been a friend of my moms for many years... which may or may not have something to do with why Mombo nominated her? Naw, really it was because she loved this mani she nominated!!! I also had a mani in mind when I saw that Kathy was nominated because I thought it kicked booTAY when I saw it! So here are two kick buttski mani's by Kathy! :D

First up is the mani that Mombo nominated! This was a dedication to one of her dog's, Daisy, that passed away.
I love how she did just yellow dots on some of the daisies! Just the perfect amount! Love it!

Here is the one I had loved since I saw it! hehe
The neon diagonal stripes and then the black stripes over this are killer! I just fricking *heart* this so much! Totes my style, don't know why I haven't done it yet... haha

Kathy's Friday in the spotlight is today, is it your turn next??  It could be YOU! Get your submissions in for Featured Artist Friday and then get your buns over here every Friday to see who the next artist is!

It could totes be you... Go do it HERE, pretty please? (with sugar on top?)

Happy weekend everyone!
*HUGS*

Mombo did a tutorial? Wha? Hells yeah!

I am having so much fun on FB and with my blog this week, I wish I didn't ever have to go back to work. Why do vacations have to be so short? I am supposed to clean my closet today, but I don't think I am going to. LOL Also, I have an appointment sometime today with my neurologist to check in with him on my headaches, since we still haven't figured out why I have a headache daily... and no medication we have tried (oh so many) has stopped them. I am sure he is going to try another one. Hooray. :P  I am totes sick of medicine... ugh!

There are some great new releases happening today...
Maya Cosmetics has the "What Kind of Party" line and some holos (Nefarious Aquarious and Like a Boss).
KBShimmer has her Holiday line releasing today and it's pretty amazing!
Are you picking anything up from these lines???

Mombo did a tutorial to create this mani:
The colors she used here are: Fingerpaints Picasso's Puce; fan brushed with Orly Glitz and Julep Rachel

Here is her FIRST video tutorial, she has given me permission to post it here for my blog viewers! :) Love it!

What do you think about her first tutorial? Do you think she should do more??

It's Thursday so I am giving you a reminder to get your submissions in for Featured Artist Friday and then get your buns over here every Friday to see who the next artist is!

It could be YOU! Go do it HERE, pretty please? (with sugar on top?)

Holiday Joy Swatches (just some, cuz I'm not rich enough to buy them all, lol)

Happy HuMp day everyone!!! Wednesday means that it's halfway through my "at home vacation" though which is so uncool. I am loving being lazy watching daytime TV, staying up late watching TV with my hubby, doing some swatches, putting lotion on my hands like 8 million times because my cuticles are now falling apart with the crazy change in weather. :(

In other exciting news... I noticed yesterday that a fellow blogger lived near me (50 miles away) which is close considering nobody around me is a blogger or a nail freak (Mombo is a nail nut, but she doesn't count in this scenario, ok? lol).  She is nice and also hilarious and we have been chatting it up on FB ever since. lol So this is just a little shout out to her (hey, girl!) and you should all check out Fox Claws and enter the insanely awesome, multi-blogger contest going on there as well!! :)

Oh boy, I better get the swatches up before I get caught up chatting in FB and don't get them up at all! hehehe I really enjoy doing the "swatching" and I wish I could do this more. If anyone knows of anyone looking for someone to do swatches/reviews, I would love to do some so send them my way pretty please! :)

As I said on Monday, for our Anniversary, my hubby let me get some polish at ULTA. Four of the polishes I purchased were from the China Glaze Holiday Joy Collection! So today I have some swatches for you and a little review on Blue Bells Ring, Cranberry Splash, Angel Wings and Winter Holly.  My favorite of these was definitely Angel Wings! I love them all, but the golden sparkle of Angel Wings was just so beautiful I couldn't stop staring at it! On to the swatches!

"Cranberry Splash"
Duochromatic red with gold reflects, I don't quite see much "duochrome", maybe a slight, slight gold.  I am not so much a fan of red on my nails and I LOVED this one on my nails! Two coats, went on smoothly and neatly. Didn't stain my cuticles like I have seen with other reds. Normal application and normal dry time. Hooray for a red I actually like!

Blue Bells Ring
This is an icy metallic blue and while I have quite a few blues in my collection, this is the closest to real blue I have. Just as Cranberry Splash, I had complete coverage in two coats. I could have done it in one thick coat if I wasn't being picky though! Very smooth application and it is gorgeous in the sunlight (this was the only one I actually caught the sun for)! I will use this one a lot I think!  Dry time was normal. One thing I though was SO WEIRD... when I went to remove it, I took one swipe with the polish remover and I had an instant "grunge mani" because there was pure silver under the blue! It truly was like I put silver polish on and then a super thin coat of blue over it! Strange but true!

Winter Holly
A deep green with green & gold micro glitter polish that is totes up my alley! I looooooove this! I am all about these micro glitters, I just love the way they look and the way they sparkle and shine all over the place! Three thin coats gets full coverage on this one and Angel Wings and I had to touch up a couple spots. Dry time is way fast though, so these are a breeze to apply! As with all micro glitters (at least the ones I have used) they love to eat your top coat right up, so you will need to apply at least two coats.  This is two coats of Seche Vite and if I would have been keeping it on longer I would have applied one more coat because I could still feel the "bumps".

Angel Wings
A gorgeous yellow gold with micro glitter that makes you feel like a princess! It's so beautiful and sparkly you can't take your eyes off of your nails! lol  Just like with Winter Holly, three thin coats and it was full coverage and a few touch up spots. I did notice you have to be careful on the tips because they get "bumpy" or "rough" also and then you are dangerous! haha  Fast dry time and then it eats your topcoat right on up, so pile it on thick! ;) Then shine on like your bad self and show off your blingin' phialanges! lol

There's all the gorgeousness! :) Hope you enjoyed the swatches as much I as enjoyed doing them. You should def pick these up, they are great! I am pumped that I got them! Thanks awesome hubby!!

G'Nite all!

Mombo Monday!

Hey Mombo, Mombo Italiano, Hey Mombo... Yeah yeah, I know.. lol I get it stuck in my head so many times when I call my Mom "Mombo" that I just can't help myself sometimes! hehe  I am totes on an AT HOME VACATION this week! Wooooohoooooo! I originally took this week off because my hubby and I were planning a trip to Vegas for our Wedding Anniversary. Our Anniversary is tomorrow... We obvi didn't end up going to Vegas, but we both still had vaca days at work and took the week off anyway. So we both have the week off and just have things around the house to do.  Things such as paint the "remodeling in process" bathroom, clean out our bedroom closet, fall cleaning, etc.  Funny thing is, my Daddio is going to Vegas for the week and we get the lovely task of babysitting his dog for him!  haha  The rest of what we have to do this week is NOT WORK. ;)

Today I want to do a shout out to my lil sista to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE GROUND! I love you so much and am so proud of you, Tai! I am so happy Mombo and Daddio made you for me when I was 2 1/2, it was the best present they ever gave me. :) haha

Alrighty then, on to what Mondays are really for! MOMBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Once again, she totes rocked out the mani's this week, so this post is way pic heavy! Yikes! I just couldn't choose because they all rock the casbah!

If any of you read about my winnings in this post, you know that I gave Mombo the Zoya "Toni" that I won because the color just wasn't "me" (even though it is totes the coolest thing eva that it has my name). Well she used it here and it look ah-mazing on her!
Zoya "Toni" stamped with OPI DS Signature

Remember when I said Mombo is the Queen of water marbles? If you didn't believe me then, do you now? lol WOW! This just blew my mind!
CG Something Sweet and Essie Skirting the Issue

Next up: Awesome animal print stamping!
Mombo used: Fingerpaints Tough Art to Follow with Pure Ice First Time
(This stamped really awesome, didn't it? I thought this was a foil before I read that it was a stamp!)

One more awesome marble!!! Geesh, I wish I had the energy to do all these mani's! hahaha
SC Gorgeous and SC Let's Play

Last but not least, the kick ass snakeskin foils!

Well, that's Mombo Monday for the week! I hope you all had your bibs on to catch your drool! ;) hehe
